- Abstract:
- We used our gas and fluorescence measurement methods (at four wavelengths) with cucumber pieces of Cucumis sativus ‘white spine type’ as a bio-sensor and found three different patterns of the bio-sensor responses to non-contact healing (bio-PK). Then, relationships among response patterns of the bio-sensor and healing ways were studied through categorical principal component analysis (CATPCA). The experimental part of the study was done in 2012 from February 27 to March 30 and June 30 to August 5 at the International Research Institute. Healers (2 males, 9 females; average age, 44.1 y) were recruited through a collaborator’s list, the internet and social network systems. Healing power was measured by gas and fluorescence measurement methods. J value, which is the natural logarithm of the ratio of gas concentrations (or intensities of fluorescence) of experimental and control samples, was used as an index of the magnitude of healing power. Measured J values were calibrated by the simultaneous calibration technique (SCAT). Healers were instructed to increase the odor (gas) of the cucumber samples. Questionnaire A consisted of 26 items (H-items) to survey healing ways which were used during the trials. Questionnaire B consisted of 26 items (CL-items) to survey client’s feelings and responses in usual situations. A combination of averages of gas and fluorescence J values was made for each trial. Next, their patterns were categorized by cluster analysis and CATPCA. Data combinations could be categorized into three patterns, labeled as I, II and III. Three ways of healing were related to three patterns of the sensor’s response: (1) chakra-activating type, (2) DNA-rewriting (language-leading) type, and (3) energy-circulation-improving type. There was a competition between types (1) and (2), and (2) was inhibited by (3). This result was also supported by correspondence analysis. These findings were obtained through pattern analysis of multivariate data sets using J value. This strategy is useful to study the mechanism of bio-PK.

- Abstract:
- The International Society of Life Information Science (ISLIS) has sought scientific proofs of existence of wonderful phenomena and resolution of their principles in these 18 years since its foundation in 1995. Thirty-six symposia have been held and 36 issues of the Journal of International Society of Life Information Science (Journal of ISLIS), totaling more than 6,000 pages, have been published periodically. The existence of many wonderful phenomena has been proved scientifically in this time; however, their accompanying principles have not been resolved. Therefore, many participants will gather at Fuji Calm in Yamanashi, Japan and hold discussions on these and other matters. This year there will be a special Memorial Lecture to celebrate the nomination of Mt. Fuji as the World Cultural Heritage Site in June 2013. A variety of phenomena such as spiritual healing, qi gong, and supernatural phenomena exist which cannot be explained by modern science results. The world view of each field will be explained to the participants, and then discussions will be held about these topics. Moreover, direct interactions and experiences in each field will be offered to participants, such as demonstrations of qi gong and other activities.

- Perspective of Biophysical Approach for Anomalous Phenomena
- Hideyuki KOKUBO
- Institute for Living Body Measurements, International Research Institute
- Abstract:
- There are various approaches for study on anomalous phenomena from the viewpoints of social, cultural and medical aspects. Especially, medical studies have increased recently according to development of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and integrative medicine, and the relating articles are increasing in Medline. However, physical approaches to anomalous phenomena are not increased relatively. In the present lecture, the author discusses importance and a possibility of biophysical approaches using bio-sensors.

- Abstract:
- Is there any difference in non-contact power when a meditator is present
or not? One experimental result for clarifying this question was released
recently (Takagi, et al., International Journal of Physical Sciences, 8(15):
647-651, 2013). Edible cucumbers were used as biosensors to sense a difference
in non-contact power. If a cucumber is cut and left exposed to the air,
gas will be emitted from the cucumber slices. A meditator’s non-contact
effect on cucumbers was proved by investigating concentration of the gas
emitted from the cucumber slices. The non-contact effect is a strange phenomenon
which is not accepted yet in modern science. We report an experimental
result which clarifies existence of this strange phenomenon.

- Evolution of the Brain and the Consciousness
- Kimiko KAWANO

- Abstract:
- The human gestation process of about 40 weeks in the womb is said to trace
the spectacular life history of 4 billion years. That history is also found
in the brain. The brain has been hierarchically constructed from the primary
neural tube which originated in protochordata about 500 million years ago,
to the brain stem, archicortex and then neocortex, as a new part surrounding
old parts left inside. And in the course of the evolution of human beings,
the brain has taken up various environmental factors and adequate conditions
for living in its neural networks. This report considers in such an evolutionary
process how "consciousness" was born and how it developed with
the brain structure, the neural networks and those functions.

- About Magnetic Sense in Animals
- Hideyuki KOKUBO
- Institute of Living Body Measurements, International Research Institute
- Abstract:
- Magnetic sense is one of many unknown mechanisms in animals. Researchers have discussed relationships between spontaneous telepathic phenomena and geomagnetic disturbance, but it is not clear whether human beings have magnetic sense or not yet. However, in the 21st century, researchers found that cows and deer have geomagnetic senses. In lower animals, it is known that some birds and fishes have magnetic senses that use micro magnetic particles in their cells. Recently, researchers have discussed the possibility that higher animals have another mechanism using a quantum phenomenon, and humans also have this mechanism in their body.
